All
students should consider the numerous ways in which every individual
is touched by business. The business education program provides the
opportunity for the development of skills, knowledges, and attitudes
for initial employment and/or a background for those who intend to
pursue further education in business related fields. |
| Family
and Consumer Sciences |
A
wide range of student needs is addressed in this department. Family
and Consumer Science is the science and art dealing with home management,
selection and preparation of food and clothing, conditions of living,
the care and training of children, consumerism and relationships.

Arts |
Students
enrolled in any of these course offerings will be exposed to a variety
of creating/performing classes. These may include art, music-both
instrumental and vocal, and theater. These classes are designed to
enhance the students exposure to the aesthetic values found in daily
life.

| Foreign
Language |
The
student is offered an opportunity to meet new employment demands created
by growing international travel and commerce. Students planning to
take advantage of the foreign language opportunities available are
encouraged to begin as early as possible to allow time for continued
study through four years.

| JROTC |
This
program provides a unique experience for high school students. Students
are identified as "cadets" and are provided hands-on, aerospace-related
opportunities. A strong emphasis is placed on leadership skills as
well as academics.

Courses
within this area will deal with such concepts as the properties and
relationships and measurements of quantities as these are expressed
in both numbers and symbols. As society becomes more technical, the
demand for math skills increases. Students are also encouraged to
avail themselves of the numerous opportunities to work with computer
literacy.

Programs |
Only
students who have good attendance, limited tardies and hall violations
will be considered as possible candidates for these courses. Permission
slips must be completed.

Science
is knowledge obtained by study and practice. Students in all science
courses will be encouraged to see science as approachable, applicable,
and practical. This is learned by developing basic laboratory skills
through problem-solving experiences, as they become knowledgeable
about themselves and the world in which they live.

Studies |
The
role of the individual within the structure of the family, community,
state, and nation is essential to a comprehensive social studies education.
As students learn about themselves and their responsibilities, they
discover what it means to be a productive citizen of the world.

Programs |
The
Special Programs Department serves a part of the student population,
which has been specifically identified. Instruction is individualized
to meet varying student needs. Staff consent and evaluation are necessary
for enrollment.
